Final test for Jones

Dave Jones is set to win the battle for Karl Henry’s place and finally return for Wolves at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow as Nigel Quashie misses out.
Midfielder Jones faced a final test this morning after coming through a rigorous workout on the patella tendon injury to his left knee yesterday.
The £1m summer signing had been vying with Quashie for the vacant central midfield spot vacated by Henry, who starts a two-match ban.
But the former Albion midfielder requires more time to regain full fitness after a chest infection.
Jones said: “I did a lot of work on it yesterday just testing it out and I’m going to try it out with the team today.
“As of now, I’m fit, but it depends on how I get through training.
“Hopefully I’ll be OK because it feels a lot better than it was.” Quashie faces a waiting game in his recovery from the bug, although he did train yesterday.
“I think I’m going to need five days to two weeks’ full training,” said the on-loan West Ham man.
“The doctor has made it clear I need that because he’s concerned about me coming back and breaking down.”
Quashie admits he’s frustrated not being able to take the anchorman role, but backed Jones to step in.
“I’ve played that (anchorman) role for all the clubs I’ve been at, but I’ve been out with a chest infection and there are others capable of stepping in,” he said.
“If Jonah comes back in, he’s got more than enough to take care of the situation of Karl or myself being out.”
