Shropshire highway chiefs are planning to spend £40,000 on installing more vehicle-activated speed signs on county roads in a bid to cut the number of traffic accidents.

Well done, spending money ON safety instead of using ”safety” to make money. A refreshing change.

These signs are good if they flash to show when you are exceeding the speed limit BUT it says in the paper that they are set to flash when you are travelling AT THE SPEED LIMIT….what is the point of that? It just makes innocent motorists feel guilty.

I have had 40MPH signs flash at me when I have been doing 25 MPH and 35MPH, both in different areas on the same day.

Is it just a ploy to make us go even slower than the already reduced limits?

If they flash when you aren’t exceeding the speed limit then people will simply start ignoring them and they will prove to be useless.

For his attitude, Tory Boy should have his licence taken away. Its that kind of attitude that causes accidents because he feels that the law doesnt apply to him and his potentially lethal machine.

“Studies show that when drivers reduce speed, collisions are less likely and if there are collisions at lower speeds there will be less serious injury,” says Mr Crossland.
This statement surely ranks a close second in the ‘Blinding Flash Of The Obvious’ awards to Ohio Police Chief Dan Gratz’s when he said: ‘We often find that high speed fatal car accidents also includes extensive damage to the vehicles involved’.
