Car park employee ‘was rude’

protest1LETTER: Re: Lady who blocked the barriers at Telford Town Centre. Although I disagree with the parking fees, they have been enforced so everyone should have to pay for their time on the car park. However, I totally understand the lady’s frustration and anger.

I was having a problem with my ticket and spoke to a female on the intercom, she was very rude and spoke to me as if it was my fault, she lacked customer service, people skills and should not be in such a position when dealing with the public.

As far as I can see when Telford Town Centre employed such rude people they deserve everything they get. My run-in was the day before the lady blocked the barriers.

I lost my ticket once & had nothing but praise for the way my dilemma was handled. The lady I spoke to on the intercom was friendly & helpful. In my experience – & I work on the frontline in a patient based enviroment – you treat those as you wish to be treated & usually you get treated with courtesy.

Paying to park is one thing but alot of the time people are paying to queue.
With all the money being raked in I would expect every ticket machine to work and all the barriers to be in operation.
The whole system of parking in Telford Town Centre is a scam the Mafia would be proud of.

I don’t like paying to park as much as anybody else but I certainly think this women was completely ignorant to cause people on a limited time lunch break so much aggravation and possible trouble with the employers by returning late. Does she think she is the only person who’s opinion is of any importance. If she complained in the proper manner some notice might have been taken of her but she will have completely lost her argument now.

I have every sympathy with this lady.
Just before Christmas I took a trip to town and parked in the Beatties multi story, needless to say town was chaos. So I finally came to pay and the ticket machine for the top floor was out of order, OK I thought I’ll use the one by the exit only to find that the machine there would only accept card payments. So I’m now stuck, no parking space, and no way to pay for my ticket, so I pressed the little red help button and explained the situation only to be confronted by a female voice on the other end who very abruptly pointed out that I MUST head back into town and find a machine that worked. I did say that I had no parking space and was told to just leave my car where is was and go.
As you can imagine there was bedlam when I got back.
The people who operate these machine seem to have the attitude that everyone with a problem is trying to pull a fast one.
The machine on the top floor was still out of order nearly two weeks later, it’s all money, money, money and never mind the service.

I totally agree… if the barriers don’t work its the pay booths… its disgusting. The charges other than a Sunday are ridiculous. I paid for my ticket the other Sunday (as this is the only day I am willing to pay for parking at a fixed flat rate) and the machine at the barrier swallowed it. I buzzed for help and the man was very abrupt and told me to take it out. I said it wasn’t there and I hear him huff and puff. I was not impressed but then he lifted the barrier… customer service is definaetly lacking… its not our fault, its your naff booths and barriers!!!
