Telford back on form

AFC Telford United midfielder Jamie Vermiglio watches the match from the stand next to the dugout
At last Telford managed to put their woes behind them and show the kind of form on their travels that they have been producing frequently at the New Bucks Head, writes AFC Telford blogger Joe Davies.
I think it’s fair to say their slim title hopes are back on track.
It has been coming all season but finally a show of free scoring and free flowing football really did the trick at struggling Hyde, and confidence in the camp must now be sky high.
All the signs from the game are good: Carey Bertram continued his goalscoring exploits and recent signing Mark Danks managed to come off the bench to net his first and second goals for the club. And with Andy Brown playing a major part in the game things appear to be coming together just at the right time.
Going back to just after last week’s game, it was saddening to hear about the terrible injury to Jamie Vermiglio. It is testament to him, his attitude and his bravery that he wanted to keep playing.
The fact he signed a disclaimer before the Southport game just to be able to take part really is admirable. However, it is surely in the best interests of both player and club if, as Rob Smith has said, he is not played again.
Hopefully, when Jamie goes for a second opinion he is given some slightly better news and I wish him all the best in trying to get back to playing.
His absence will be a blow to our hunt for silverware but it gives Emeke Nwadike another chance at the club after it seemed so likely he would be leaving after being out of favour for so long.
After getting our league title hopes back on track, the focus must now firmly be on Tuesday night’s game away at Barrow in the Setanta Shield.
Another win on Tuesday could really be the catalyst for one of the club’s best seasons ever. And what anyone would give to see a treble-winning side at the New Bucks Head.
