newport1stsNewport’s Twickenham dreams are over after an EDF Energy Intermediate Cup quarter-final defeat at Sheffield Tigers.

The Fishes were beaten 21-13 by the strong North One outfit but left with their heads held high.

A Matt Curgenven converted try and a long Jamie Curgenven penalty put Newport ahead after they had fallen 10 points behind early on.

Sheffield took control in the second half and recorded 11 unanswered points to book their place in the semi-finals.
