Teenager hit by car on crossing

A Telford teenager was in hospital today after suffering serious injuries when he was struck by a car as he used a pedestrian crossing in Telford.
The 14-year-old boy was using the crossing on Park Lane in Madeley, when the accident happened at 6.55pm yesterday.
He was taken to the town’s Princess Royal Hospital by ambulance, where he remained today.
Police said the vehicle stopped at the scene and no arrests were made.
Constable Mick Evans, spokesman for Telford police, said: “He remains in hospital today where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening and he is in a comfortable condition. His treatment is on-going.
“We are still investigating the collision and would urge anyone with information to contact police.”
John Hawker, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: “The ambulance arrived within five minutes of the emergency call and found a boy that had been in a significant collision with a car.
“The boy, believed to be 14 years old, had suffered serious leg, arm and facial injuries. He was treated at the scene and immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar.”
The driver was uninjured.
