Schools unite to create history

Saturday 28th February 2009, 5:59PM GMT.

History has been made in Bridgnorth as a new sixth form partnership between the town’s two main schools means students will be able to attend classes at both secondary schools.

Teachers at Bridgnorth Endowed and Oldbury Wells Schools have been in talks recently over the setting up of the Bridgnorth Sixth Form Partnership.

For the first time in the history of the two schools they have a completely matching timetable to enable pupils to get a full range of subjects on offer.

A joint meeting including all teachers from the two schools took place this week, when plans for the joint curriculum were decided.

Sarah Godden, head of Oldbury Wells School, said: “It works in lots of different ways. For example, subjects like drama, where there are students in both schools that want to do it but numbers at both are quite low. We can join the classes together and it can be taught between the two schools.”
