Library reflects Darwin images

Saturday 28th February 2009, 10:50AM GMT.

Charles DarwinShrewsbury Library will be lit up tomorrow night as images from Charles Darwin’s life are projected on to its walls.

The illuminated slide show will feature large scale digital images, including film, photos, and animations, charting the naturalist’s life and discoveries.

It has been designed as part of the lightingUpTime project to celebrate Darwin’s bi-centenary with a series of illuminations in Shrewsbury.

The show has been created by town new media artist Andy McKeown, and is inspired by the Darwin archive at Shrewsbury School.

Images from letters, journals, old school books, and medallions from the USSR Academy of Sciences alongside images and video from the school’s specimen collections will feature.

The show will be projected across the length of Shrewsbury Library, starting at dusk and running until 9pm.
