The youngsters could take advice from Dr Ruth Fairclough, from Telford, a Wolverhampton University maths and statistics lecturer, who has cooked up a complicated formula for the perfect pancake.
And the secret is: 100 – [10L - 7F + C(k - C) + T(m - T)]/(S – E) – where L represents the number of lumps in the batter, C the consistency, F for the flipping score, K the ideal consistency, T the pan temperature, m the ideal pan temperature, S the length of time the batter stands before cooking, and E the length of time the cooked pancake sits before being eaten.
The closer to 100 the result is, the better the pancake.
