MP kicked off TV show contest
Monday 23rd February 2009, 2:15PM GMT.
Mid Wales politician Lembit Opik has become one of the first celebrities kicked off a popular television programme.
Mr Opik had been taking part in the challenge section of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, where presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly go head-to-head in a series of competitions.
The latest challenge, for the second show of the series, saw the presenters and their teams record a charity single.
Mr Opik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, was part of Team Ant, alongside TV presenters Yvette Fielding and Jonathan Wilkes, comedian Brian Conley and Liz McClarnon, a former member of pop group Atomic Kitten, which recorded a cover of S Club 7’s Don’t Stop Movin’.
However, when Team Dec sold more copies of their single Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, McPartlin was forced to pick a member of his team to get rid of – and Mr Opik was the man chosen to go.

Shouldn’t he be representing us in Parliament or are they off on holiday again?

Am I right in assuming that MP’s are paid to serve the people of our country? If so how is appearing on this show serving our country?

It really is about time the good people of Mid Wales got rid of this idiot. He’s always seemed to be more diligent in chasing showbiz work than doing what he’s paid to do.

I see they are now selling off the Post Offices while our MPs are off playing games.
Clearly they are dramatically under-employed, as we can all see when there are televised news bits, with the place almost empty.
Do they all have Bank jobs in the daytime?

Lembit spends more time playing the airwaves than ever he does working in Westminster. He is a joke.

at least we know what he will be doing when Glyn Davies takes over, what a choice the electorate have, no wonder I joined the Aapthy Party.
