Gang breaks victim’s leg in attack

Monday 23rd February 2009, 1:10PM GMT.

ShifnalA man was taken to hospital with a broken leg after being attacked by a gang of thugs in the toilets of a Shifnal nightclub.

Police say it was a “nasty, unprovoked” assault and are urging the public to help them catch the culprits.

It is believed the attackers may have targeted another reveller just minutes before.

The 47-year-old victim, who has not been named, was set upon in Naughty Nell’s nightclub on Saturday. He was in the toilets at the club shortly after midnight when the gang struck.

The victim was attacked by four men who are described as clean shaven and possibly of mixed race appearance.

He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, for treatment.

Detective Constable Lee Holehouse, of Bridgnorth CID, today appealed for any witnesses to the assault.

“This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on a man who was enjoying a night out with friends,” he said.

“We are keen to hear from anybody who witnessed the assault or who knows the identity of the attackers.

“We are also anxious to hear from another man who we believe was also the victim of an assault by the same offenders just prior to this incident,” he added.

Anybody with any information can contact DC Holehouse, at Bridgnorth Police station, on 0300 333 3000 or call the Crimestoppers hotline, which offers cash rewards, on 0800 555111.
