Planning bid reunites group

Villagers have vowed to relaunch an action group to fight plans for a major new housing development in north Shropshire.
People in Prees, between Wem and Whitchurch, say they will fight against a planning application, for 25 new homes on Whitebrook Meadow.
They say they fear the move would bring a massive influx of new people to the village putting a strain on the local job market.
Campaigners from the Save Prees Action Group plan to meet soon to discuss their response to the application.
The group was formed last year to campaign against a similar application for the land, by the Bromford Housing Group.
Campaigner Lawrence Allen said: “The view is that this planning application appears different from the titling but it looks to be not different from last time.
“There’s a move now to get the group back together again, and there are calls going around the village.”
Bosses at the Bromford Housing Group said the development would help to secure jobs and meets housing needs in the area.

Oh FOR GOODNESS SAKE .
Put a strain on the local job market??? what do they not travel far around there?? . If the houses are required build them and ignore the views of the shower who are whinging about it . How many of the whingers are originaly from the area ?? surely they cant all be in commers can they??.

“Massive influx of new people” if 25 new houses are built..Seems a lame excuse and Prees is well within the usual “travel to work” criteria for larger towns.

Don’t think I’ll be buying a house in Prees then. Always thought it was such a nice little village too.

Houses are needed. Jobs are needed. We need more and we need larger settlements. We don’t need moaning nimbies stopping everything.

I live very close to the proposed developement if there is a need for housing, sorry but i’ve not heard about the shortage. Also how will having more houses in Prees create more jobs, there will be more people for the same number of job vacancies which at the moment no-one is taking on. The opposite in fact firms are reducing their numbers. Any jobs created for builders will inevitably come from out of the area. As I remember the firm Bromford enlisted to develope the site didn’t employ anyone LOCAL so no new jobs there then!!!
