Historic hotel on the market

An historic Shrewsbury town centre site with an illustrious past has been put up for sale for £250,000.
The former Station Hotel building in Castle Foregate has been empty for several months following the closure of the Castelo mediterranean restaurant.
Real estate agents Jeremy Rubin & Co said it had already received “strong interest” in the property.
Shrewsbury historian David Trumper said the Station Hotel site had always had a pub on it since the 18th century. But he said the original pub was burned down in 1856 in a huge fire before a new pub was then built on the site.
News of the sale of the building comes as the nearby Cambrian Business Centre in Chester Street is set to go under the hammer at auction next week.
The four-storey office block has been entered as a lot at a sale at Manchester United FC’s Old Trafford stadium on Friday with a guide price of between £750,000 and £1 million.
