Villagers near Oswestry are celebrating the completion of a new play area which they say will keep children safer and away from a busy road.
The £10,000 play area has been built at Ruyton-XI-Towns and will include a fitness trail and a picnic area.
The funding was provided by contributions collected from developers of new housing estates in the parish, under a Section 106 planning agreements
The deal sees developers agreeing to give land and money for the play equipment and future maintenance of the site.
Borough councillor Aggie Caesar-Homden said: “It is important that there are play facilities for all young children in the village in a safe and secure environment. There is a lack of play facilities so it is great to see this new play area.”
Resident Bev Howell welcomed the play area. She said: “It will keep children safer and will give a play area to youngsters at this side of the village.”
