Church needs £75,000

A huge fundraising campaign is set to be launched to raise £75,000 for the urgent restoration work of a south Shropshire church.
Father Richard Green, team vicar for the Ashfords Group of churches, said Knowbury Church, in Knowbury, near Ludlow, was in desperate need of essential work.
A open evening was held at Knowbury Memorial Hall last week, to explain what needed doing and launch an appeal.
Father Green said the south side of the chancel roof needed re-roofing, the interior required re-decorating and the historic organ installed by Wedlake of London in 1881 required a major overhaul.
He said: “Another meeting is planned for next Tuesday at Knowbury Hall, Snitton Lane at 7.30pm with the intention of forming a fundraising committee.”
Anyone can help with fundraising, or offer any skills, is asked to attend or contact Father Green on (01584) 831113, or churchwardens Thyrle Bird on (01584) 890548 or Nora Bootman on (01584) 890780.
