Parking bid backed by councillors
Friday 20th February 2009, 10:30AM GMT.
Councillors have backed a decision to plough £10,000 into a scheme to provide more parking spaces in Shifnal.
The town council’s finance and general purposes committee had already agreed the money be contributed to the scheme at Cheapside.
But the matter was brought to the full council for it to be confirmed.
The whole scheme would cost an estimated £26,000, with Shropshire County Council providing £13,000 and Bridgnorth District Council offering between £2,500 and £3,000.
Seven extra spaces would be created by transforming waste ground at Cheapside.
One of the spaces would be for disabled drivers and there would also be a cycle track.
