New theatre opening for visits
Friday 20th February 2009, 11:30AM GMT.
Bosses at Shrewsbury’s new £28 million theatre are to hold an open day in response to huge demand from the public.
As well as the opportunity to see public areas of the building, visitors will be able to go back stage to see the provisions made for visiting companies, and gain an understanding of the systems in place to deal with their scenery and equipment.
Jan Edmondson, theatre marketing officer, said the event at Theatre Severn in Frankwell would take place on April 11 and had been organised following massive interest in the scheme.
She added that people do not need to book.
People interested in seeing the workings of the new theatre can go along on the day between 10am and 4pm.

This wonderful new £28m Theatre, I wish that the Council would be honest enough to tell the local taxpayers what the actual costs are. When the scheme was proposed the cost was £28m and that was split £23m build cost and £5million into an investment account to generate an income to subsidise the Theatre.
The costs are know £26.5m and if they still place £5million in an investmetn account that totals £31.5m
So when will they tell people the trust – that the local taxpayer will be paying more tax to subsidise this white elephant.
