Works to secure a main Shropshire road which has suffered two landslides in a week were due to start today.

Contractors are building a barrier against the edge of the road at Harley Bank, on the A458, at Much Wenlock, southbound, today.

Gareth Proffitt, for Shropshire County Council, said: “Temporary traffic lights and the diversion for southbound HGVs will remain in place until tonight while this work is carried out.

“On Monday Shropshire County Council will begin a detailed survey of the rock formation to determine the options for future work.”
