Town well placed to earn big points

Manager Paul Simpson today urged Shrewsbury Town to have “no regrets” in pursuit of their promotion dream as they prepare to embark on a crucial week in their campaign.Town enter tomorrow’s home game with Chesterfield outside the play-off spots following last week’s defeat at Bournemouth.
But with Chester visiting the Prostar Stadium on Tuesday and a trip to bottom club Luton awaiting next Saturday, there is a chance of a bumper points haul in the next seven days.
Simpson is anxious for his side to give everything as they pursue Town’s first promotion within the Football League for 15 years.
“It’s a wonderful feeling getting promoted,” said Simpson. “I have been really fortunate because I have had a few.
“But you don’t often get them. I’ve had 20-odd years at it and I’m only talking about having a few so you have to take it while you can.
“This is a really, really good opportunity for us. We have worked extremely hard to get into the position we are in now.
“It would be a crying shame if we let it slip away and it’s our own doing.
“We need to make sure we grab this opportunity.
“We say every game, don’t come off with any regrets and we are saying in every single training session not to leave anything behind and get everything you can out of it and then come into games and do exactly the same.
“I have belief in the players and believe the players have the ability to affect what is going on. We now need them to show everyone they have got it.”
Midfielder Paul Murray is expected to be available after making good progress from a niggling hamstring injury for what Simpson recognises will be a testing encounter.
“Chesterfield are a good side, particularly at home,” he added.
“They have lost Jamie Ward who would be a big miss for anybody but Martin Gritton has come in and seems to have struck up a good partnership with Jack Lester.”

Stop talking about it Simpson and do it! Sounding more like Gary peters everyday. I think your team have proved that there is no such thing as an easy game for shrewsbury town.
Remember the Spartans anyone?

Simpson is just not credible. He is running the club into the ground.

Will people please give Paul Simpson a chance.
Any supporter knows that part of football is talking the game up.
As I have remarked before it would be interesting to know if any of the negative comments come fro so called fans that hardly ever go to Town games.
