Start date for bridge work
Thursday 12th February 2009, 1:00PM GMT.
Long-awaited repairs to an historic Shropshire bridge look finally set to begin next year – 15 years after it was assessed as “weak”.
Councillor Yvonne Holyoak, Shropshire County Council member for Rea Valley, today said council bridge engineers had told her they are hoping to start the strengthening work on the 100-year-old Minsterley Bridge in 2010.
Campaigners have, in recent months, questioned whether the work would take place anytime soon because they have been waiting so long for it.
The grade II-listed bridge, which carries the B4387 Horsebridge Road over Minsterley Brook in Minsterley, was assessed as “weak” in 1994.
Since then councillors and local people have been waiting for the work to be carried out.
Councillor Holyoak said: “They hope to start building next year and public consultation should start in May.”

maybe none of the councilors live the other side of the bridge , in which case no one would be bothered , as is if it dosn’t affect me , I don’t care .
