A motorist ploughed into a house in Shropshire while other drivers were left spinning down an ice-covered hill after freezing temperatures caused havoc on the roads.
The car crashed into the wall of Sarah Carter’s house in Telford after skidding off an ice-covered road last night. Miss Carter today said she was lucky to be alive after the collision. Three people escaped from the car with minor injuries.
Meanwhile cars travelling down the steep Rock Road into Ketley spun out of control due to the icy conditions. A resident stood at the side diverting traffic away from the ice.
He said: “Luckily I’m off work today and have been trying to wave traffic down. They gritted too early last night, before it rained and froze overnight.
“It’s like an ice rink.”
One 27-year-old motorist spun out of control after being forced on to the other side of the road by another car.
The woman said a driver in front of her managed to steer her car into a drive, instead of crashing through the barrier and on to the pavement where children were walking.

No no..the ‘drivers’ caused havoc on the roads. The moisture settled and formed into ice on the road surface as nature intended.
As a footnote where was the grit on the Shrewsbury to Welshpool road on Tuesday AM?? Answer on the back of one of my council tax receipts will do.

With being a frequent seasonal visitor to the roads of Telford you have probably noticed that I leave a glistening deposit that most can see. Some say it is very annoying since they have to spend time scraping it off their windscreens first thing in the morning.
Not surprisingly this deposit forms on roads. Those who have the guile and ability to add two plus two will not be surprised to find that the roads are slippery. Most motorists will then drive according to the conditions.
You have been warned, it’s apparent that the council can’t stop me… so slow down and expect to meet me! Signed Jack.

Entirely down to the drivers concerned I’m afraid. We seem to be plagued by two types of idiots in such weather. Firstly, those who drive too fast for the conditions, accelerating and braking too harshly.
Secondly those who drive too timidly, and fail to realise the need for a little momentum, especially in the snow.

I got into my car this morning at about 8am, it was covered white, I looked for seagulls but couldn’t see any about, I touched the white, it was cold! The windscreen reminded me of the glass I have in my bathroom, could Jack have visited me? What? In winter? Gadzooks!
I made my windscreen nice and shiny.
I too drove down The Rock, the trees were so pretty in their overnight coats, what else could go wrong? Nothing, because yours truly appreciated the weather, the roads (which the council told us only Major Routes {I served with him in Aden, damn fine polo player}were going to be gritted),the only thing you cannot account for are those who think they know better than anyone else or are as thick as the ice on my car and quite frankly shouldn’t be allowed behind the wheel!

The problem was near Newdale school there is water leaking from under the grass bank which left a sheet of ice! A women who was holding a baby fell on the road as she tried to cross! It isnt just the roads its the pavements aswell. It wouldnt be so bad if it was flat but Overdale and Newdale are badly effected when the weather is bad as it is all hills. The fact the council didnt grit is disgusting one day someone is going to get seriously hurt!!! I bet the car park at the council was ice free??? Oh and by the way it is only because someone reported the water leak and the extent of the ice to the Shropshire Star that there fixing the leak now but that doesnt help in the morning it will still be an ice rink!!!!!

May i suggest that when you see a particularly icy section of footpath, you use your giant brain and cross over to the other side, In the suitable footwear your giant brain told you to wear, when you looked out of the window and saw the cold conditions. The fact that the council has to payout for thousands of fatherless kids is disgusting. If there weren’t so many illegitimate children around, then maybe the council could afford to grit more roads.
