About 40 firefighters spent three hours tackling a blaze which ripped through a Shropshire mansion.

Crews battled to save Henlle Hall, Preeshenlle Lane, Gobowen, after being called at about 11pm yesterday.

Firefighters were sent inside the property to tackle the blaze internally in a bid to stop it spreading.

A crew remained at the scene this morning damping down.

The property was empty when the blaze began and an investigation has now been launched into the cause.
