Sales fall threatens firm’s jobs
Wednesday 11th February 2009, 12:20PM GMT.

Jobs were under threat at one of Telford’s biggest employers today after falling sales led to a decision to carry out a review of the company.
Automotive component manufacturer Denso Manufacturing UK (DMUK) said it was consulting its workforce about the plans to restructure the firm.
A three-month consultation process will now take place with the working consultation group, the plant’s elected employee representative body.
Bosses said today, although details of the restructure consultation were yet to be agreed, it was expected there would be an reduction in the number of staff.
Hortonwood-based DMUK, which has been in the town since 1992, employs almost 900 people producing radiators and air conditioning units for the automotive industry.
But Alan Taylor, head of human resources, said they could not say at this stage how many posts would go.
The firm is blaming a downturn in UK and global demand for new cars of about 30 per cent for leading to a sharp reduction in orders for all component suppliers.
In the autumn a number of posts went through a voluntary leaving scheme and its night shift was axed.
