Driver spared prison
Wednesday 11th February 2009, 4:39PM GMT.
A 68-year-old Shropshire driver whose actions left a 10-year-old boy dying in the road has narrowly escaped a prison sentence.
Roy Clive Allen, of Station Road, Meole Village, Shrewsbury, failed to stop immediately after hitting Lee Thompson-Walker on the A470 at Llanrwst in Conwy on July 28 last year.
Allen also then failed to report the accident.
He was given a six week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, told to complete 120-hours of unpaid work, given nine points on his licence and £60 costs when he appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court today.
