Another litte adventure for MINI
Wednesday 11th February 2009, 11:00AM GMT.

MINI are getting set for another adventure with the unveiling of their super-fast small premium cabriolet, the John Cooper Works Convertible, at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 3, 2009.
As well as having all the same high-performance engineering modifications as the John Cooper Hatch, the convertible’s 1.6-litre twin scroll-turbocharged engine produces 211 hp and up to 280 Nm peak torque with Overboost deployed.

MINI say its engine is lighter, stronger and supplied with a larger air intake, as well as an exhaust system specifically designed for John Cooper Works cars.
The transmission’s gearing is strengthened to handle the extra available power; power that pushes the car to a remarkable output of 132 hp per litre, yet still able to offer a wallet-friendly 39.8 mpg.
Standard kit includes a bespoke John Cooper Works Alcantara steering wheel, sport seats, John Cooper Works floor mats, air conditioning and glossy black interior, as well as all the usual technology such as ABS brakes, dynamic stability control and electronic differential lock control.
At the front of the gear stick, there’s a Sport button which activates a bespoke engine control map producing boost earlier in the rev range and sharpening steering and throttle response.
Extra-large disc brakes paired with upgraded bright red Brembo performance callipers are supplied.
The MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, which is priced at £23,470 on the road, will go on sale in the UK from the end of March.
