OAP finds intruder in home

An elderly Telford woman was left “extremely upset and shaken” after discovering an intruder in her home.
The 85-year-old called her family for help after walking into the living room of her Wrockwardine Wood room yesterday about 7.15pm to find a man there.
Police said a relative arrived within minutes and as she went in the house in Lincoln Road she discovered two men at the back door.
The burglars claimed they were letting the householder know about young children causing problems in the area and left.
It was later discovered that a number of rooms in the house had been searched and £200 had been stolen.
Police believe the men had forced a window to the home to gain access. The pensioner was not hurt physically.
Officers are investigating the matter and have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Denise Wakefield, Telford Police spokeswoman, said: “The woman was extremely upset and shaken after finding the man in her home. Fortunately she has family living nearby and was able to summon help quickly.
“Police attended but the men had left the scene. We are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
“We would also urge anyone who may have encountered these men yesterday evening to speak to us.” Call police on 0300 333 3000.
