Girl grabbed on canal path
Monday 9th February 2009, 2:20PM GMT.
A 14-year-old girl was grabbed by a man while walking her dog along a canal towpath in Shrewsbury.
The teenager was walking along the path behind Sundorne Sports Village towards Lesley Owen Way at about noon on Saturday when she saw two men walking towards her.
Police said as she got close to them one of the men stopped and as she drew level with him he said to her “come with me”.
The youngster refused and tried to walk away, but the man grabbed her arm. She shouted for him to get off her and managed to pull her arm free and run away.
Detective sergeant Allan Crossley, from Shrewsbury CID, said: “She has described the man as white, about 6ft tall and quite skinny. He was wearing a black hat with a scarf around his face. His coat was black and he wore blue tracksuit bottoms.”
Anyone with information on the incident should call police on 0800 3333000.
