Songsmith Taylor brings show to NIA

James TaylorLegendary singer/songwriter James Taylor arrives back in Birmingham to perform at The NIA Academy on Sunday, July 5, 2009.

Tickets, priced £45 plus booking and transaction fees, go on sale at 9am on Saturday February 7, 2009.

The tour is expected to see Taylor celebrate the release of his brand new Covers album which sees him collaborate with musical heavyweights including Luis Conte, Michael Landau, Jeff Babko and Larry Goldings.

Tracks on the album include Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’, Hound Dog, Knock On Wood, Why Baby Why, Summertime Blues and (I’m A) Road Runner plus many more.

Speaking about the album Taylor said: “An album of other people’s music is something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’ve enjoyed performing these songs over the years but to record them live in a room with these incredible musicians was just extraordinary.”

Following the release of Covers, Taylor has been nominated for two Grammy Awards – Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal for his version of Wichita Lineman.

Over the course of his career, James Taylor has sold more than 40 million albums, and won more than 40 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards as well as five Grammy Awards.

In 2000, Taylor was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. His hits include You’ve Got A Friend, Handy Man and Don’t Let me Be Lonely Tonight.
