Drayton’s game hit by freeze
Saturday 7th February 2009, 12:15PM GMT.
Market Drayton Town’s fifth round FA Vase match at Biggleswade today fell victim to the weather.
Volunteers had cleared the pitch on Thursday, but another six inches of snow fell to render their efforts useless.
The match has been re-arranged for next Saturday.
Shrewsbury’s League Two game at Bournemouth beat the big freeze and the pitch was declared playable after two inspections today.
AFC Telford’s Blue Square North game at Tamworth also went ahead.
The Coca-Cola League One match between Swindon and Southend and the League Two games at Port Vale, Darlington and Macclesfield, with Aldershot, Wycombe and Notts County the visitors, are all off.
Yesterday the cold snap put paid to the Championship matches at Barnsley, Charlton and Watford, with Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Southampton the respective away teams affected.
Horse racing at Newbury and Warwick is also off, while tomorrow’s meetings at Exeter and Hereford have also fallen victim to the weather, as has Monday’s meeting at Wetherby.
