Sir David Frost joins festival line-up

One of the world’s best-loved broadcasters will be taking part in Ludlow’s famous arts festival, organisers have revealed.
Sir David Frost is the latest celebrity to take part in Ludlow Festival from June 20 to July 5.
The broadcaster will be involved in a question and answer session during An Audience with David Frost on June 23 when he will talk about his 40-year career.
Festival chairman Jenny Vaughan said: “For the past four years we have been inviting Sir David Frost to visit Ludlow Festival, this year being the festival’s 50th anniversary we are delighted that Sir David has agreed to take part in our celebration programme of events.”
She added that Margaret Thatcher described him as a “giant in his profession”, while Tony Blair said of him: “Although his questioning was always courteous, he always managed to get reams of information out of you.”
Sir David first hit the headlines when he co-created and hosted the mould-breaking satirical show That Was The Week That Was in the early 1960s.
He also hosted The Frost Report and famously interviewed President Richard Nixon after the Watergate scandal in the late 1970s. He has written 15 books, produced eight films and received many major TV awards.
Actor Sir Derek Jacobi has also been confirmed as appearing during the event, featuring Romeo and Juliet as the festival play.
Organisers have said that the festival could be under threat if donations, grants and sponsorship could not be secured for its 50th year.
