Friday 6th February 2009, 11:50AM GMT.
A woman who died after her car left the road and struck a tree near Oswestry was today named as 43-year-old Karan Porter.
Miss Porter, of Tregarthen Lane, Pant, died in hospital following the crash on the A483, near Llynclys crossroads.
Police officers on routine patrol discovered her overturned grey Ford Focus estate car in the carriageway on Wednesday, at about 9.10pm, but it is not known what time the crash happened.
Miss Porter, who was the only occupant, was cut free by the firefighters but died later in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Richard Ewels, West Mercia Police spokesman, said: “A post mortem was held yesterday and an inquest is expected to be opened next week. The police are continuing to prepare a report on the incident for Mr John Ellery, mid and north Shropshire coroner.”
Sergeant Conrad Smith said: “At the moment we are trying to establish when the vehicle left the road.
“No-one has come forward who saw the collision so it is important anyone who can assist our inquiries should make contact with Oswestry police station on 0300 333 3000.”
He appealed for anyone who may have seen the car being driven from the Oswestry direction towards Pant just before the crash to get in touch.
