Keogh aims to win over opponents

Friday 6th February 2009, 1:15PM GMT.

Andy KeoghAndy Keogh today rounded on the Wolves boo-boys and insisted: “I love playing at Molineux”.

Keogh was substituted in the 3-3 draw against Norwich at Molineux on Tuesday after fans booed him for passing up goalscoring chances.

But ahead of the Championship leaders’ trip to Coventry tomorrow, the 22-year-old Ireland international refuted suggestions that he might prefer playing away rather than face the home fans.

Keogh said: “No not at all – I love playing at Molineux. I’d rather play at home so I can make up for the other night, prove someone wrong or change someone’s opinion.

“All I want is glory for the club. I can’t ask for a better place to be. It’s an unbelievable stadium and a great atmosphere.

The fans might want to vent their frustrations, but when they get behind you, they really get behind you. I don’t want anyone not to like me as a player. If they do, I’ll do my best to change that.

“I had people who stood up and backed me and then I came in yesterday morning and three little notes from people, which was nice.”

As to the fans’ reaction, he said: “I was aware of it and everyone is entitled to their opinion. You can’t be liked by everyone. We feel their frustration. Maybe the fans need to show a bit of patience. I’m not hurt, but I was disappointed. I don’t think anyone in any job would like that. But it’s a big man’s game.”

Keogh has vowed to move on after revealing he has experienced tougher times. “It’s forgotten – you move on to the next game,” he said.

New £2.3m signing Christophe Berra is set for his Wolves debut at the Rioch Arena tomorrow.
