Thousands of tins of dog food stolen
Thursday 5th February 2009, 12:45PM GMT.
Thieves in Shropshire stole thousands of tins of dog food from the back of a lorry parked in the county.
Police in Shrewsbury are appealing for witnesses after the dog food was stolen from a HGV, parked about six miles out of Shrewsbury.
The lorry was targeted in a lay-by on the A49 just before the turning for Walkmills, between 10pm on Tuesday, February 3 and 6.45am on Wednesday, February 4.
Two pallets, each weighing about two-tonnes, were removed from the trailer during the night.
One of them contained 1,536 tins of Cambrian Delicious dog food in rabbit flavour, which had been packed in slabs of six tins but may have since been split by the offenders.
The other held 30 15kg bags of dry Massey Brothers working dog food.
