Players set for Town return?

Thursday 5th February 2009, 10:15AM GMT.

Paul SimpsonShrewsbury Town could welcome Paul Murray and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff back into their squad for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

Cansdell-Sherriff has been forced to sit out the last two games with a hamstring problem, while Murray – who had also picked up with a slight niggle – missed Tuesday’s 2-0 success over Accrington Stanley.

But manager Paul Simpson is hoping to welcome both players back into the reckoning as Town go searching for only their second away League victory of the season at the weekend.

“Paul said he was available for Tuesday night if he was selected, but I chose to leave him out of it,” confirmed Simpson.

“I think he has had a lot of games and he is one of the players we just need to nurse through.

“He will be available for the weekend and I am hoping Shane Cansdell-Sherriff will be available as well because we do miss having those two players available.”

Simpson, meanwhile, believes an average of two points a game for the remainder of the season will be enough for Shrewsbury to be celebrating their first promotion within the Football League since 1993-4.

“I said to the players before Tuesday, if we can average two points every game between now and the end of the season, I think that should be enough to get us up,” added Simpson.

“We have started well on Tuesday – but we need to carry it on.

“We have got a good run of games coming up if we approach them right.

“Bournemouth away on Saturday is a game we have to be committed in.

“They have got a good home record but they are there to be got at.

“Then we have got Chesterfield at home and Chester at home – they are good games for us.

“We have got to make sure we keep our heads, keep focused, keep believing and keep working hard.”
