Adcote School pupils had fun in the snow
People across Shropshire and Mid Wales were warned of more bad weather to come – including a 24-hour snow shower – as the region woke to sunshine today.
The counties escaped the worst of the weather at the start of the week as south-east England ground to a halt, but John Warner, Shropshire Star weatherman, said Powys and Shropshire were set to suffer in the next few days.

Only three schools across the two counties were closed today – Newcastle Primary School, Newcastle, near Clun, Ysgol Cedewain, near Newtown and Caehopkin School, near Brecon.
However, council bosses said that could change from tomorrow. The warning comes after a 16-year-old girl, from Sheffield, was killed after crashing into a barbed wire fence in Rotherham yesterday on a makeshift sledge.
Police described Francesca Anobile’s death as “tragic”.
Gareth Proffitt, Shropshire County Council spokesman, said during bad weather it was up to individual headteachers to decide whether to close their school.

Love the photos of the snow…they bring back memories as I was raised and went to school in Wellington…meanwhile here in Melbourne Australia we have had many days over 110degrees Farenheit !!! Global cooling and warming !!!!

Just travelled from Shrewsbury to Welshpool 7am, the newsroom will be disappointed to know that everything was fine and roads clear. An inch of snow in Shrewsbury and I doubt if Welspool even saw one flake. Life goes on. Of course the schools will be padlocked and barricaded though.
