FTSE 100 snowed in

The FTSE 100 remained frozen against a snowy City backdrop this morning – rising just 0.41 per cent in early trading.
At 8:56 GMT the index stood at 4,094.88 – a rise of 17.10 points.
Leading the gains was Vodafone – up 6.59 per cent after the telecoms giant reported its forecast for full-year revenues were up as the low pound acted as a boon to overseas sales.
Miner Xstrata rose 3.98 per cent, Royal Bank of Scotland gained 3.92 per cent and TUI Travel gained 3.90 per cent.
BP led the drops – down 3.30 per cent – as profits for 2008 rose 39 per cent to $25.593bn but in the last quarter they were down 74 per cent on the previous three months.
Barclays was down 2.85 per cent, Cobham dropped 2.23 per cent and Land Securities fell 1.95 per cent.
Last night in New York the Dow was down 0.80 per cent – importantly closing below the 8,000 mark at 7,936.83 for the second time since November, and only the third time since 2003.
