Football tribute to mechanic
Saturday 31st January 2009, 9:33AM GMT.
Friends and relatives of a mechanic who was killed after an accident at Oswestry bus depot have been invited to wear their favourite football shirt when they attend his funeral.Father-of-one Phil Formstone died under a single-decker bus he is thought to have been working on at the Arriva depot last Sunday.
A post mortem examination found he died from crush injuries.
Police and officers from the Health and Safety Executive are carrying out an investigation into how the 46-year-old, from Gresford near Wrexham, was killed.
Mr Formstone was a regular supporter of Wrexham FC and attended home and away games.
Nearly 4,000 football supporters as well as players stood in silence to pay tribute to the mechanic on Tuesday night before Wrexham’s Blue Square Premier match against Northwich Victoria.
His brother, Pete, said having mourners wear their favourite team’s shirt at his funeral at Gresford All Saints Church on February 10 would serve as an appropriate send-off.
Donations will go the County Air Ambulance and Wrexham Supporters Trust.
