Saturday 31st January 2009, 11:13AM GMT.

The West Mercia Police helicopter was scrambled to Telford twice within a matter of hours during the night. The alarm was first raised at 7.40pm when a suspected trespasser was seen at Ironbridge Power Station. This was followed by a report of vandals on the rampage in south Telford five hours later.

Despite an extensive search of the area, nobody was found near the power station.

The second aerial search was carried out after eight commercial vehicles were vandalised at Heath Hill Industrial Estate in Dawley. A Telford police spokeswoman said they were investigating.

The call came at 12.30am today but despite searches over Dawley, Horsehay and Lawley no-one was arrested.
