Worfield Will’s hole-in-one on par four
Friday 30th January 2009, 1:10PM GMT.
Will Weaver was still in shock today after hitting a hole-in-one on a par four – at the start of his first round for two months, writes Sean Wozencroft.
The Worfield Golf Club managing director amazingly holed out from 256 yards at the second hole at Chesterton Valley during a Shropshire & Herefordshire Alliance.
It is Weaver’s second hole-in-one.
“To get a hole-in-one with my first round for two months is incredible,” said the surprised 50-year-old.
“When we got to the green we couldn’t see the ball so we checked the bunker and couldn’t find it there either.
“My partner checked the flag and to my amazement there it was. It was a very special moment.”
The five-handicapper from Aston Eyre, near Bridgnorth, tallied 34 stableford points alongside team mates Ben Rolls, Edwin Golden and Mike Walker.
l Shropshire’s Jonathan Gidney enjoyed an unbeaten double for England in the second day of the quadrangular tournament in Spain.
In the match against Finland, Gidney and Miles Mackman won their foursomes 1up against Jonas Haglund and Kalle Samooja, while the Church Stretton ace halved his singles with Henri Satma as England won 6-3.
