A new film urging young motorists to drive safely has launched on YouTube – after a video was posted on the website showing a Shropshire man doing speeds of more than 100mph.

The road safety video, backed by Shropshire County Council, is aimed at young drivers and their passengers.
Bosses behind it say it takes a novel approach to the issue, featuring no script, no professional actors, no crashed cars, and no bloodied crash victims.
Instead, it features a young couple who film the majority of the footage themselves using mobile phones.
It comes after the Shropshire Star published images of a driver who was recorded driving at speeds of up to 105mph between Shrewsbury and Telford in a video which was posted on social networking site YouTube.
Police yesterday said an 18-year-old man had handed himself in at Telford Police Station since the article was published in the Shropshire Star. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.
The safety film has been posted as part of the annual For My Girlfriend campaign which asks young men to take care of their female passengers. The video, backed by councils across the country, is designed to remind young people of the potentially tragic consequences of poor driving.
Nick Rawlings, FMG campaign organiser, said: “Our film leaves it to them to decide what may or may not have happened, and simply reminds them of the potentially terrible consequences if things go wrong.”
Malcolm Farrar, Shropshire County Council’s road safety officer, said: “This campaign is not only aimed at young male drivers, but it also prompts passengers to say something to the driver if they feel unsafe about their driving, and not to hurt the one they love.”

It’s not just boys who speed these days. Girl Racers are nearly as common with just as bad attitudes to road safety. This video should be aimed at ALL young drivers in the 21st century when EVERYONE is an equal.

I agree with David Powers. Many a time I have had cars come racing up behind me and see some woman at the wheel, not just young women either, and quite often my wife remarks on bad driving only to discover it is a woman at the wheel.
I am not of the opinion that men are better or worse drivers, its just that some drivers are complete idiots. If, in a sober moment they could see themselves, they would be ashamed.
I drive to the limit where possible not below it, and with, not against the weather.
I despise dawdlers of any age, but, speed has its place, along with caution. Everyone that drives needs to bear in mind that whilst speed can kill, it’s the stopping very suddenly that does it every time.
