Enjoy some Arabian nights at village hall

Residents in Shawbury will be entertained with an exotic tale of romance and action when ’1001 Arabian Nights’ is performed by Shawbury Village Players drama group.
1001 Arabian Nights will be held at Shawbury Village Hall from Thursday, February 5, to Saturday, February 7.
Ann Page, chairman of Shawbury Village Players and pantomime director, explained the plot: “There’s trouble brewing in old Baghdad! Unless the Princess Jasmina marries before her 21st birthday, the evil Vizier will take control of the city.
“Things look grim. But hang on – a posse of would-be heroes are here to save the day,” she said.
To add to the spectacle, Shawbury Village Players will be joined by the Shawbury Belly Dancers, who will delight audiences with some Arabian dancing.
“Ticket sales are going extremely well, with a high probability of a sell-out for both Saturday performances,” added Ann.
Evening performances are at 7.30pm with an additional Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Tickets are adults £6, seniors £5 and children £4 with a £1 discount for advance purchases. Tickets are available at Shawbury Post Office or by calling 01939 251094.
