Water firm to lose millions
Tuesday 27th January 2009, 11:50AM GMT.
Shropshire’s water supplier Severn Trent is bracing itself for a multi-million pound fall in income this year as customers seek to cut back on supplies in the credit crunch.
The company today revealed that reduced consumption among householders and businesses on water meters was expected to cost it between £20 million and £25 million this year.
The downturn is much higher than the company was predicting in November, when it forecast a reduction in the range of £12 million and £15 million.
- Severn Trent’s forecast comes as Shropshire families are urged to make sure they are on the correct tariff to benefit from cuts in gas bills in the future. For the full story see today’s Shropshire Star.
