Tragic schoolboy remembered

The “infectious smile” of a 12-year-old Shropshire boy who died in hospital after what is believed to be a tragic accident will remain “implanted” in the hearts of his schoolfriends, his former teacher said today.
Alex Titley, of Harlescott in Shrewsbury, died in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Sunday after the accident at his home.
His friends and teachers at The Grange School in Harlescott yesterday paid tribute to the youngster and described him as a popular member of the school community.
His former headteacher at Harlescott Junior School has also paid tribute to Alex.
Lawrence Gittins said: “Alex will be sorely missed by all pupils and staff who both attend and have attended The Grange Junior School. His energetic personality and infectious smile will remain implanted in our hearts for ever.
“Our thoughts and love are with his family at this time of great sorrow.”
Vernon Bushell, a Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Councillor for Harlescott, said he had known the family for a long time and was stunned by the incident.
He said: “My thoughts are very, very much with the family at this moment.”
Alex died in hospital shortly after being taken by ambulance from his home at 4.40pm on Sunday. Police have launched an investigation into his death but are not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.
