Man’s sight at risk after attack
Tuesday 27th January 2009, 5:00PM GMT.
A man may lose part of his sight after bricks were thrown at a car he was in near Oswestry.
The victim suffered head and eye injuries when the car was attacked in Overton Road, St Martins.
Police said a group of up to 15 youths had gathered in the area when a white, old-shape Volkswagen Polo, driven by another man and containing three passengers, passed by.
One of the youths threw a brick at the vehicle, causing the driver to slow down, and another was thrown almost immediately afterwards, smashing the rear passenger window and hitting the victim in the head.
One youth then kicked the car and a third brick was thrown.
Constable Andrea Ashworth, who is investigating the incident, said: “The passenger needed stitches in hospital and doctors have warned he may lose some of the sight in one eye as a result of his injuries.
“There were a group of up to about 15 youths gathered, but only some of them appear to have been involved.
“This incident is being treated as a serious assault and also criminal damage and I would urge anyone in that group who saw what happened and can identify the offenders to please contact police on 0300 333 3000.”
Damage of about £350 was caused to the vehicle in the incident.
It happened on Saturday at about 2.30am.

What is the world coming to with stupid yobs like this? I hope they are caught and get more than a warning, maybe 6 of the best?

After traveling over 200 miles to visit friends, decided to turn off at the mile end roundabout to buy a burger, returned to find my passenger car door had been booted in, certainly a place to steer clear of in the future.
