Phone boxes are saved
Monday 26th January 2009, 1:18PM GMT.
A selection of payphone equipment in Bridgnorth will be saved after several parish councils voted to keep their phone boxes.
BT had told the district council that transfer of the ownership of phone boxes to them would involve removal of the payphone equipment.
The authority objected to this in July, which preventing BT from removing the phones.
BT then introduced its Adopt a Kiosk scheme and as applications have been made by parish councils to adopt kiosks at Romsley, Badger and Neen Savage, it has again asked about removing the equipment.
Bridgnorth district councillors voted to object to the removal of fixtures from the Badger kiosk, but agreed to the removal of equipment at Romsley.
They delegated the decision on the Neen Savage kiosk to the head of local plans and regeneration.
