Woman set to appear in court over fire murder

George BlackA woman who was arrested in connection with the murder of a 41-year-old Shropshire man was due to appear in court in Telford this afternoon.

The woman has been charged with conspiracy to murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice in connection with the death of George Black.

The woman, who is in her 20s and from the Leominster area, was arrested on January 7.

She was interviewed before being released on police bail on January 9.

She answered bail this morning and was charged with conspiracy to murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

She was due to appear before magistrates in Telford this afternoon.

The woman was originally arrested along with two others, a man and a woman both in their 40s from the Leominster area.

They were both charged with attempting to perverting the course of justice and appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court earlier this month.

The three arrests were made by officers investigating the death of Mr Black, of The Square, Bucknell in south Shropshire.

He died in Whiston Hospital, Liverpool, on December 10, two days after an incident at his home in which he suffered severe burns.

Two other men arrested in the Leominster area in the days following the incident appeared in court on December 12, charged with murder.

This brings the total number of people charged in connection with Mr Black’s death to five.

Investigations are continuing.
