Youngsters in Shawbury will have a new place to go when an £11,000 youth pod boasting bluetooth technology and solar lights is delivered to the village next week.Young people in the village have been talking to Shawbury Parish Council and the police over the design of the shelter and its location and are said to be “very pleased” with the progress.

Councillor Simon Jones, a parish councillor and North Shropshire District Council member for Shawbury ward, said the special shelter should be delivered and erected next Friday. It will be sited on the recreation ground.

“The order has been placed and it should be being delivered and erected on January 30. The kids are really looking forward to it,” he said.

Councillor Jones said the pod had plastic sides and a solid back and seats all the way round it. “It’s got what they call a sonic pack – bluetooth, FM radio and solar lights – it’s all solar powered,” he added.
