The 21-year-old, of Cherrybrook Close, Hope-under-Dinmore, Leominster, is also charged with perverting the course of justice on December 10 last year by making a false statement to police.
Telford magistrates today remanded Smith in custody to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on February 2.
