Friday 23rd January 2009, 11:06AM GMT.
A teenager went on a “prolonged spree” of tyre slashing which left 70 motorists facing a repair bill of almost £11,000, a court heard today. On the same day the teenager breached a criminal anti-social behaviour order (Crasbo) and intimidated a witness, Shrewsbury Youth Court heard.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, today admitted a charge of witness intimidation and breaching a criminal anti-social behaviour order in Market Drayton on January 10. He also asked for his role in 70 vehicle tyre slashings to be taken into consideration.
Magistrates told the teenager he faces a “high risk of restriction of liberty”.
Mr Adam Warner, prosecuting, said the incident had been a “prolonged spree of tyre slashing”. He told the court the tyre slashing offences would have resulted in a £10,900 compensation bill if the teenager had been charged.
Sentencing was adjourned until February 6 for the completion of reports. The youth was remanded in custody.
