Firefighters free boy from toy
Thursday 22nd January 2009, 1:25PM GMT.
Firefighters came to the rescue after a five-year-old Telford boy’s finger became wedged inside a kaleidoscope.
The youngster, believed to be from Madeley, was taken to the Tweedale fire station yesterday by his parents.
He had got the kaleidoscope stuck on a finger while playing with it at 6.24pm, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
The crew took about 10 minutes to remove the toy using ringcutters.
Watch manager John Pritchard said: “He was just playing with the kaleidoscope and he put his finger inside it.
“His parents couldn’t get it off so they brought him to the station.”
Mr Pritchard added: “He was a little bit distressed but we talked him through it. His parents were a little bit concerned but in the end they were able to see the funny side.”
